War is hell. This book will get you next to the flames. The generation that fought the war has reached the age where they are starting to write books about it. I never really understood the Vietnam War with my remembrances mainly framed by Walter Cronkite and the evening news I’d occasionally watch as pre-teen. Then starting about 10 years ago, I started to come across these memoirs written by soldiers who were there. Big Red One This is a very detailed account of Mr. Murry’s experience in the war. The memoir also includes a recap of the First Infantry’s actions in Vietnam before Mr. Murry was assigned to the unit. One of the more interesting aspects of this book is the fact that Mr. Murry served in the same AO as my father.
